Argastiri

Argastiri (Αργαστήρι) is a small village in Chania Prefecture on the island of Crete, Greece. It has about 30 residents, mostly farmers, olive oil production, its elevation is 650 meters and it is lies 48 km south of Chania. It is within the municipality of East Selino (Anatoliko Selino).

In 1821 there was a battle between Greeks and Turks, in the place Plakakia near Argastiri. it was a turkish victory, with 2000 Turks against 450 Greeks. The leader of the Greek forces Nikiforos Hatzidakis was killed.
