Kareika

Kareika (Greek: Καρέικα, older form: Καραίικα), older form: Karaiika, is a village located about 1.5 km S of Gomosto and about 2 km SE of Rachi in the municipality of Movri and is located north of the Movri mountains. The village is part of the community of Metochi and is also a part of Vouprasio. Kareika is connected with the road linking to Riolos and Spata and is connected with GR-9/E55 (Patras - Pyrgos) 1 km to the north. Riolos is between the plain to the northwest and the Movri mountain to the southeast. Neo Vouprasio is located 40 km SW of Patras, about 60 km S of the Rio-Antirio Bridge, about 3 km SW of Lappa, about 55 km (old: 60 km) NE of Pyrgos and about 30 km (old: 3540 km) from Kyllini.

Mixed farming along with pastures cover the area around Kareika to the southwest and the northeast. The forests are to the central part, the north and parts in the east and are mixed. More forests and grasslands lie south in the Movri ranges. The transformer line linking Megalopoli as well as Patras and Pyrgos lie about 1 km south which existed since the mid to late 20th century. The panorama includes the mountains of Panachaiko, Erymanthos and the Mavros Oros mountains, the mountains of Aetoloacarnania can rarely be seen. The village length is about 1 km with residential areas stretching from the highway to near the mountain.

In the 1950s, Kareika became connected with pavement at the highway, the road was later paved several years later to Riolos.

Other

Kareika has a school, a church and a small square (plateia) located in the central part of the village. The nearest train station is in Apostoloi. A gas station is between the junction and Gomosto.
