Kleidonia (Greek: Κλειδωνιά) is a settlement in the Ioannina Prefecture in Epirus, Greece. It is in the municipality of Konitsa. Its 2001 population was 12 for the village, and 217 for the municipal district.
History Archaeology Two prehistoric locations have been found near Kleidonia: * Kleidi Cave In these two caves there are archaeological remains that date back to 20,000 and 12,000 years ago, in the later period of the Paleolithic Era in Greece. Ottoman to the Present Era Kleidonia was ruled by the Ottoman Turks until the Balkan Wars and annexed in 1913. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, its buildings were rebuilt and emigration occurred at a higher rate until 1981 through to 1991, when the population decreased, it lost half yet again.
