Palaia Kameni (or Palea Kameni)( ( ) is a small uninhabited greek island of volcanic origin located in the Bay of Santorini

The island was formed as it is today from the island Theia after vulcanic activities in 46-47 (a result of which was a Tsunami wave) and 726 AD. Also geological activities in the year 1457 changed the shape of the island.

The 726 vulcanic eruption was considered as a religious sign against the byzantine Emperor Leon III (an iconomachos). The Cretan Kosmas was named by rebels as the new byzantine emperor and with Agallianos and Stefanos as leaders of a fleet they attacked Byzantium without success.
