Hellenistische Kunst: Die Schäferin die zum Schäfer wurde

We do not have only sculptures of persons with a perfect body (like Aphrodite or Apollo) in the Hellenistic time but also examples like the old shepherdess (or shepherd) from around 150 BC (a Roman copy) (1.09 m). This work was discovered in 1875. First it was considered to be the sculpture of an old woman (guess why! ), but now it is considered to show an old man, a shepherd.
