1st century BC Copy of a Hellenistic Mosaic (41 cm x 43 cm) produced by Dioskourides of Samos found near Pompeii (Villa of Cicero). Left top side the sign of the artist. Probably a comedy play from the 3rd century BC is shown with musicians playing the double flute, the tambourine and cymbals. A large number of stones is used as small stones of 2.5 mm or less are used. The artist uses a light coming from the right side, as can be seen by the shadows.
