Adrano

Adrano is a town in the east of the Italian region of Sicily.

It is situated around 41km northwest of Catania, which is also the capital of the province to which Adrano belongs. It lies near the foot of Mount Etna, at the confluence of the Simeto and Salso rivers. It is the commercial center for a region where olives and citrus fruit are grown. In 2005, Adrano had 35,696 inhabitants on an area of 82.51 km². Its nearest neighbour towns are Biancavilla, Bronte, Paternò, Randazzo, Santa Maria di Licodia and Centuripe (En). The present mayor of the town is Fabio Maria Mancuso (Udc).
