Alalia was a colony in Corsica of the Phoceans from Massalia, today known as Aléria. Around 535 BC a coalition of Carthaginians and Etruscans won a battle against the Phoceans at the battle of Alalia. The Punic-Etruscan fleet of 120 ships defeated the Greek force of sixty ships and Alalia was taken over by Carthage.
