Musée du Louvre, Paris, France Artist/Maker Unknown Found in Rome in 1630, it was heavily restored: a large part of the arms and legs, the cymbals and the tree trunk are modern. It seems that the satyr originally was beating time, snapping fingers in rythm and using a kind of Greek castanets with his foot. Accession number Ma 395 (MR 190) Department of Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities, Denon, ground floor, room 17 Photographer/source Jastrow (2006)
