In Greek mythology, Erymanthus was

a rivergod in Arcadia. who had a temple and a statue at Psophis. (Paus. viii. 24. § 6; Aelian, V.H. ii. 33.)

a son of Apollo, was blinded by Aphrodite, because he had seen her in the bath. Apollo, in revenge, metamorphosed himself into a wild boar, and killed Adonis. (Ptolem. Heph. i. 306.)

a son of Aristas and father of Arrhon, or, according to others, the son of Arcas and father of Xanthus. (Paus. viii. 24. § 1.)

Remnants of the Eridanos are found all through northern Europe, from the Netherlands at its western end to sediments in northern Lapponia.
