Medea flees from Korinthos in a flying chariot drawn by a pair of serpent Drakones and encircled by the aureole of the sun. Her children lie dead, slain on the altar, to be discovered by their father Jason (left). A pair of winged Poinai (Retributions personified) oversee the entire scene, c. 400 BC
