Nikolaos Vokos


Nikolaos Vokos ( ) (1861 Hydra - 1902 Athens /Palaio Faliro) was a Greek painter of the Munich School.

He was a grandson of Andreas Miaoulis. He left the military school to study Arts in Athens. He continued after receiving a scholarship his studies in Germany in Munich. There his teachers were Nikolaos Gyzis, Ludwig Löfftz and Andreas Müller.

He remained in Munich for 16 years having his own school of painting.

He participated in a relatively small number of exhibitions: Munich (1898), Paris (1900), Athens (1901). One of his paintings the fisherman received a prize in an exhibition in Chicago.

He returned 1902 in Athens but he died only a few months later. Escpecially he was known for his very realistic paintings of landscapes.Επέστρεψε στην Αθήνα το 1902 και πέθανε λίγους μήνες μετά.

His brother Gerasimos Vokos was also a painter, author and journalist.
