Marlen Angelidou

Marlen Angelidou (born September 6, 1978 Maria Eleni Madalena in Cyprus) is a singer, Thespian, and former member of girl band Hi-5. She is of Scottish, Greek, and Greek Cypriot descent[1]. Angelidou studied business management after graduating from Nicosia Grammar School, and also worked in musical theatre in London.

In 1998 she came second (duetting with Alexandros Panayi) in the Cypriot pre-Eurovision selections show in which the winner would go on to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest. She did, however, manage to get to Eurovision the year later with her song Tha 'Ne Erotas, and was tipped to win, although she came a very disappointingly second from last after a poor stage performance.

In 2003 she took part in the Greek television contest Pop Stars, winning one of the five spots in a teen girls group that was to be formed on the basis of the show's outcome. The group was named Hi-5 and released a self-titled album in 2003 that went gold in Greece. The band has made famous songs such as Xero Ti Zitao, To Tyhero Asteri and Gennithika Xana. The band came to an end in 2005 after two years together to persue solo careers.

Marlen has lived around the world (in countries such as Cyprus, Greece, England, Belgium and Venezuela) but considers Cyprus her home. She speaks fluent Greek, English, and Spanish[2]
