Aitne is a Greek word derived from "Aitho", meaning "I burn".

In Greek mythology, Aitne is the name of a nymph who was seduced by Zeus.

Jupiter's moon Aitne is named after her.

The name of the Sicilian volcano Mount Etna comes from this word. [1]
