"Überfahrt des Megapenthes" (Embarkation of Megapenthes), Johann Asmus Carstens , 1785, Staatliche Gemäldegalerie, Berlin

In Greek mythology, Megapénthês was a son of Proetus. He exchanged kingdoms (Argos for Tiryns) with his cousin, Perseus. He was the father of Argeus and possibly of Anaxagoras.

Also in Greek mythology, Megapénthês was a son of Menelaus and Helen. After his father's death, he sent his mother into exile. In most other texts, he was an illegitimate son of Menelaus only.
