Ano Doliana

Ano Doliana (Greek: Κάτω Δολιανά) is a village located in eastern Arcadia. At an altitude of 1050m., on the northern most buttresses of Mt. Parnon and at a distance of 45 km from Astros is the historic village of Ano Doliana (Greek: Άνω Δολιανά). It is the summer residence of the inhabitants of Doliana who, on 23rd April, with the transfer of the icon of their patron Agios Georgios (St George), also transfer their household goods from the lower village (Kato Doliana) to the upper village (Ano Doliana).

Ano Doliana is a traditional settlement with stone-built houses and cobbled roads. The Folklore Museum of Christofili as well as the traditional hospice can accommodate visitors, hikers, and even skiers from Mt. Mainalo. Every four years on 18th May there is a re-enactment of the historic battle of Doliana. The abundant water, the wooden structures built by the Forest Authority along the streambeds and in the chestnut forests offer the visitor cool place to rest. The European mountain trail E4, which passes through the village is ideal for hiking tourism, while the splendid 'balcony' provided by the village square, with a view to the plain of Tripolis, satisfies even the most demanding visitor.
