Presidents of Cyprus

The President of Cyprus is the country's head of state. The position was created in 1960, after Cyprus gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Currently, the president of Cyprus is Dimitris Christofias.

Note: In 1974, Turkey invaded Northern Cyprus, and in 1983, created and recognised the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. After then, the President of Cyprus only ruled the southern part.
