Lefteris Papadopoulos

Lefteris Papadopoulos(Greek: Λευτέρης Παπαδόπουλος) is a greek lyricist, poet and journalist. He was born in Athens, Greece in 1935. He started studying at the Law School of the University of Athens but he stopped during the third year in order to work as a journalist. Since 1959, he works in the newspaper Ta Nea and he is the chronographer of the paper during the last 25 years.

He involved in songs and music in 1963. He wrote the lyrics of about 1,200 songs. He has co-operated with many great mucisians, composers and singers like Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarhakos, Manos Loizos, Stavros Koujioumtzis, Mimis Plessas, Christos Nikolopoulos, Stelios Kazantzidis, Grigoris Bithikotsis, George Dalaras, Marinella, Viky Mosholiou and many others.

Some of the most beautiful and well-known greek songs from 1960 to 1990 have lyrics written by Papadopoulos. He also wrote some books about greek music; such as the one about the lyricist Eftichia Papagianopoulos(title: "Ola ine ena psema").

Lefteris Papadopoulos is married to director Raea Mouzenidou and has a son and a daughter as well as two grandchildren.
