John Cannis

John Cannis (born November 4, 1951) is a member of the House of Commons in Canada.

Born in Kalymnos, Greece, he was raised and educated in Toronto, Ontario. He was first elected as a Liberal candidate in the 1993 election in the riding of Scarborough Centre. He was re-elected in the1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006 elections

From 1999 to 2001, he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry.

He is known for his efforts to deny the Khadr family re-entry into Canada, and public efforts to have them arrested.

He and his wife Mary, have three children, Irene, Paul, and Daniel.
