Diro

Diro (Greek: Δίρο), not to be confused with another Diros is a town in Mani, Laconia, Greece. It is around 26 kilometres from Areopoli.

History

The battle of Vergas took place near Diro.In the battle of Diro Maniots men and women fought against 1500 men of the Egyptian army of Ibrahim. Diro is most famous for its marvelous subterreanean caves.
