Historical population

1981 129
1991 155
2001 97

The population between 1981 and 1991 was one of the few villages in the province that recovered its population. The 2001 census showed that the population lost more than one-third by 3% from the 1991 census.

Rapsommati has a school, a church, a post office and a square (plateia). The village also has a spring in the area.

Much of the community are covered with forests whose tree's height is no more than 10 or 15 m except for a few pine trees. Mountains are to the east and is not far from the SPAP/OSE railway line linking Kalamata, Tripoli, Argos and Corinth.

The only area that lost its forests was for the construction of the superhighway between Tripoli and Kalamata which began in 2000 and finished in 2003 to make the route easier from difficult mountain curvy roads. It was half complete in 2002 and opened a tunnel named Rapsommati Tunnel. The total length is 1.365 km/1,365 m. The highway in 2003 was opened to traffic. The superhighway runs in the northwestern part.

In 2007 the region was hit by fires like in many other places in Greece. In Arkadia Anemodouri, Routsi, Mallota, Perivolia, Rapsommati, Elenitsa and other places fires destroyed forrests, houses, people died.
