Petralona Cave Google Earth

In 16 September 1960 in the cave of Petralona,on the hill Katsika of Petralona / Chalkidiki , a skull was discovered by Christos Sarigianidis. Results of studies from the year 1968 and 1974-1988 by Aris Pouluianos were published although the age of the skull is not clear. Various methods provided results that vary from 70000 to 700000 years. The latest results indicate an age of 200000 years at least.

Whatever the result is it is the earliest remain from the Palaeolithic Age in Greece.
