Monastery Simonos Petra

Dedicated to the Birth (Nativity) of Christ, named after Hosios Simon, founder of the Monastery. The monastery was build 1257. Construction continued after a decline by Prince Ioannis Ugljesa in the mid 14th century (1368). It was rebuilt after damages by fires (many monks died) in the years 1580 , 1622 and 1891. In 1590 the western part was build while in 1891 the eastern part.
