Olympiada Patras

The Olympias of The Patras Athletic Company (Greek: Αθλητική Εταιρεία Πατρών Ολυμπιάς Athlitiki Etaireia Patron Olympias) is a basketball club founded in 1961 and was founded in a tavern owned by Birba at Messolongiou and Fotila Streets. The first game was on December 26, 1961 and the first third division was in April 15, 1962. The first clubs included track and field, basketball, volleyball and bicycling. Olympiada is one of the most historic union in Patras. Its colours are orange and white.

Men's Basketball

The basketball currently pariticipates in the A1 Division in the 2006-07 season. It participated in the second division from 1977 until 1981. In 2006, it participated in the A2 division. Its current president is Nikolaos Bogonikolos.

Men's Volley

One of the most historic sport in the club participated in the first division in 1965-66, 1969-70, 2000-01, 2001-02. From 1981 until 1983, it played in the second division and in 1987, it played in the Third Division.

Track and Field

The largest division in the team is the second plave in the Panhellenic climax after Panellinios GS. It had featured many athletes from Greecce and it had entered many local championships in all of its categories. The most famous athlete was the victory of Nikos Angelopoulos in the Balkan Track And Field Games in Sofia in 1980 in the 200 m with the record of 20.71.


Bicycling

The cycling club does not exist today


Field

Olympiada plays in its closed arena in the neighbourhood of Taraboura with 2,500 seats in which was constructed in 2001. Before, it played in an opened field in the neighbourhood of Prosfygika. The arena is located at 24 Tisonas Street. Its postal code is 26223
