Leivathos (Λειβαθός) is a municipality in Kefalonia, Greece. It lies south of Argostoli and has a population of 4663 habitants according to the Census of 2001 Kerameies is the seat of the municipality.

Lakithra

Lakithra is a village, known from the Mycenaen graves which were discovered in the region. Also the so-called Rock of Lord Byron is in the region named after the known poet who was in the region in 1823.

Metaxata

Metaxata was named after the Byzantinian Markantonio Metaxa after the Fall of Constantinople. Before its name was Fratzata.

  • Andreas and Konstantinos Metaxas, freedom fighters
  • Lord Byron who spent some time in the village. A sculpture of Byron is in the central square of Metaxata.
