Constantinos Makrides (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Μακρίδης) is a Cypriot football player. He was recently signed by FC Metalurh Donetsk.
Career
APOEL
Makrides played in the attacking-midfield position for APOEL and competed for the club in the domestic league.
He also competed with the same team in the past in European competition qualifications. He is 25 years old and has established himself as a regular pick since his move from Apollon Limassol FC in 2004. Probably the best goal in his career so far is the goal against Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the UEFA Cup where he started from his own half, passed the entire Maccabi defence and slid a shot past the goalkeeper[2].
Metalurh Donetsk
On the 17th of May after the victory win over Anorthosis in the cup final Makrides confirmed that he will be leaving in the summer to play for Ukranian outfit FC Metalurh Donetsk the club his old friend and ex-teammate Ricardo Ribeiro Fernandes plays for.[3]
International
Constantinos Makrides is also a regular player for the Cyprus national football team with 24 caps to date. He played the full 90 minutes in all 4 games of Cyprus' Euro 2008 qualification campaign to date, including a 5-2 victory over Ireland and a 1-1 draw with Germany.[4].
