Nicos Jiapouras (born June 9, 1970 in Nicosia, Cyprus) is a Cypriot International footballer. He is a right-wing defender for Orpheas FC in the Cypriot third division and played for Cyprus national football team. He was a regular starter for Cyprus and one of the most popular players in the third division of Cyprus. Early life Nikos was born and raised in Nicosia, the largest city in Cyprus. From young boy, he loved swimming and from young age he showed his talent in swimming events. He won 17 medals at international events. But, as Nicos was growing up, he changed his mind and decided to leave swimming training and start football. From the first trainings he showed that he is a great football player too. He is a graduate of the English school of Nicosia, one of the best secondary schools in Cyprus. Football career He began his football career at Olympiakos Nicosia FC in 1990. That same year he made his debut for the Cyprus national team in a 1990 Fifa World Cup qualifier against France in a match played in the capital of France. He joined Cyprus third division club PAEEK FC in 1997 from APEP Pitsilias. He has recently moved to Orpheas FC on a two year contract.
