Nea Moudania with a population of 17,032 ( according to national statistics agency http://www.statistics.gr/StatMenu.asp ) is Chalkidiki's biggest town. Previously it was the second largest town in Chalkidiki but the municipality remains the largest in Chalkidiki. The city is located 50 km south of Thessaloniki and it is considered to be the financial and commercial centre of the whole prefecture. It was built after 1922 from Asia Minor Greek refugees which gave in the settlement the name of their previous city (now Mudanya, Turkey) hence the word Nea which in Greek means new. It is also called Moudania but Moudania is the municipality's name and is the seat of this municipality. Nea Moudania develops major cultural and economical activities, since it hosts the only Technical Education Institute in Chalkidiki and a harbour which serves as Thessaloniki's adjuvant. The city also hosts 2 local television and 3 radio stations including Nea Moudania TV. Other Nea Moudania has schools, lyceums, gymnasia, banks, a post office and a few squares (plateies).

Flogita Beach Bar Flogita is a seaside village , population 1520, 52 km from Thessaloniki and 6km W from Nea Moudania. It was founded by refuges from Minor Asia after 1922. It is a tourist destination (population due to visitors in the summer months increased from 11.000 in 2000 to c. 21000 in 2006) 40.27°N , 23.22°E. Flogita Google Earth Links
