Omiroupoli or Homiroupoli (Greek, Modern: Ομηρούπολη, Ancient Katharevousa, -is, ie. "The city of Homer"), older form: Omiroupolis is a small town of 916 people at the north part of Chios island. It is part of the Omiroupoli municipality (Dimos Omiroupolis, Δήμος Ομηρούπολης ) population 7335 (2001 census) , with Vrontados as its seat (population 4605).
Tradition claims that Homer (Όμηρος) was born and lived here.
Other
Omiroupoli has a schools, lyceums, a few gymnasia, churches, banks, a post office and squares (plateies) and a small port.
