Antonis Tristis (ς) was a Greek politician, born and raised in the town of Thinia on the island of Kefalonia. He is a former mayor of Athens. He was also minister of public works, and Minister for National Education and Religious Affairs. He was one of the most popular mayors of Athens, dedicating much effort in re-vitalizing the city. One of his pet projects was to plant as many trees as possible throughout Athens in order to create a "greener" city and also alleviate the smog which perpetually hangs over it. He was elected MP in the Greek Parliament with PASOK in 1981 and 1985. In 1989 he established the short-lived Greek Radical Movement.
