Lechovo, Florina


Lechovo is a community of Florina prefecture. Population 1227 (2001).

The picturesque village is set amongst the mountains of Northern Greece and the main road runs through the town's centre. The town features a museum, a soccer pitch and an indoor handball stadium. The town has stone architecture common to many northern Greek towns. This architecture is highlighted in the old upper platia and church bell tower. The Arvanitika language is often spoken by the village elders. After World War II, many people emigrated to Germany, Australia, Canada and the USA to work in the construction industry.
