Argithea Municipality


Argithea (Greek: Αργιθέα) is a municipality in the Karditsa Prefecture, Greece. Population 2627 (2001). The seat of the municipality is in Anthiro (or Anthiron). The name derives from King Argitheos of the Athamanians who rulled circa the 3rd to 2nd century B.C.

Anthiro or Anthiron is a mountain village (c. 900 m), 75 km from Karditsa. The population is 349 (2001) (actually many more in the summer)

A stone bridge from the 14 th century is near Anthiro.

Argithea is a mountain village (altitude c. 950 m), 62 km from Karditsa

Mesovounion

Mesovouni (old form Mesovounion) is a mountain village (1050 m) on a side of Mount Karava (2184 m)

Therino

Therino (older form Therinon) is a mountain village (870 m), 65 km from Karditsa, known in the past as Glogovitsa.
