Geropotamos

Geropotamos (Γεροπόταμος) is a municipality in the Rethymno Prefecture, Crete, Greece. Population 8323 (2001). The seat of the municipality is in Perama.

Margarites

Margarites is a village of Geropotamos known from its pottery production. There are also some old churches and a monastery in the region.

Melidoni

Melidoni is a mountain village. The villagers mostly farmers also produce charcoal from wood with a very old traditional method. A few hundred Cretans were killed by the Turks in a cave of Melidoni (Gerontospilios) in the year 1824. By setting fire to material in the entrance of the cave all trapped Cretans inside the cave died.

Panormos

Panormos is a sea-side village. It was in the antiquity a harbour of the settlement in Eleftherna. Panormos was an important trade center in the past. There are various neoclassical houses in Panormos, one with an insciption from 1871.
