![]() Sellana Municipality Marathia (Greek, Modern: , Katharevousa: Μαραθέα), older form: Marathea, also with the third a accented is a Greek located northeast of Karditsa in the northeastern part of the Karditsa Prefecture. Marathia is in the municipality of Sellana. Marathia had a 2001 population of 709 for the village and 967 for the municipal district. The village is situated in the Thessalian Plain. Its residents are based in agriculture and other businesses. Its main production are cotton. In the older times, the village was known as Vanari (Βάναρη) and was renamed to Marathia in the late-20th century.

Other Marathia has a school, a lyceum (middle school), a gymnasium (secondary school) a few churches and the central square (plateia), its nearest and banks are in Proastio as well as its post offices. The village was called earlier Vanari. Near the central square (plateia) there is the church of Agios Nikolaos (St. Nikolaus), outside the village is the small church (exokklisi) of Agios Athanasios (St. Athanasios).
