Egaleo FC is a Greek football club from Aegaleo, Athens that plays in the "Stavro Mavrothalassitis" stadium named after an old mayor of Egaleo, and played an important role in the stadium's construction. The stadium's capacity is (in theory) larger than 3530 seats but several stands are currently unusable due to earthquake damage. The current coach is George Vazakas and the club colours are blue and white.

History

Egaleo was formed in 1931, as Ierapolis sport Association, by Demetrios Haniotis and Georgios Aronis. In 1946, four clubs in Aigaleo sport club merged. This club enforced 1960/1961 for the first time promotions in season to the highest division of Greek football. In the season 1970/71 the club finished as fourth, the highest class ring ever. In season 2004/05 for the first time Uefa cup football was gained, in group E with FK Partizan, S.S. Lazio, Middlesbrough FC and Villareal but felt out with only 1 point. That same season Egaleo FC finished 6th in the Greek league after PAOK with 45 points.
