Kastania is a mountain village (alt. c. 850 m). Kastania is known from the meeting of Greek rebel forces of ELAS with their leader Aris Velouchiotis during the period of the occupation of Greece by the Germans.

Milotopos is a settlement of the Kastania district. Milotopos mean "place of apples", due to the apple trees in the region.
