Loutraki-Perachoras is a municipality of Corinthia Prefecture, Greece. Loutraki being the most important settlement is a seaside town having a population of 11383 inh. in the southern part of Greece, famous for it's natural beauties, spas and mineral water springs. Recently one of the biggest casinos in Europe has been built in Loutraki. A modern conventional centre is about to open gates and a marina is also expected. Loutraki sometimes is perceived as the last boundary of the Athens metropolitan area. Many Atheneans live in the community permanently or seasonally. The area is a very important tourist destination for summer & weekend visitors from Athens metropolitan area, due to the proximity (about 80 km) and the clean and sandy beaches surrounding the town of Loutraki and the other seaside settlements. Municipal boundaries to the South include the Corinth's canal. Corinth Canal is a partial border between the Corinthians' Common and the Loutraki-Perachoras Common. The Canal area though, is at responsibility of the latter. A private-owned company is operating the Canal ship traffic. Loutraki's springs of mineral water are very well-known for their exceptional qualities.A significant bottling industry has been developed due to this fact. Perachora is a smaller village (Population 1256 in 2001.) NW of Loutraki at a landlocked position surrounded by mountainous landscape. Large pine-trees forests are found there. These are the main source of the local production of natural resin. Together they form the Loutraki-Perachoras Municipality.
