Tsaritsani , Larissa

Tsaritsani counts 2507 people (Census 2001), was a part of the Elassona municipalty, at the north part of the Larissa Prefecture, 40 km far from city Larissa. After 15.3.2006 it is a commuity of Larissa. It's a beautiful, traditional village at the foot of Mount Olympus, with many country churches of the Post Byzantine period. It is one of the biggest villages of the Prefecture that was at its peak in the 16th century. Its mansions are a quite remarkable sightseeing.

Worth seeing

• The mansions and the tower-houses of the area;
  
• The house of Konstantinos Oikonomou (or Economou) of the family Oikonomou, famous scholar and priest (see below);
  
• The monastery of Aghios Dimitrios, built in the 16th century;
  
• The monastery of Aghios Athanassios, built in the 17th century.
  

Nowadays it is famous for Brigata Rossa di Tsaritsani, Olympiacos supporters club.
