Evrymenes or Evrimeni (Greek: )is a municipality of the Larissa prefecture in Thessaly. The seat of the municipality is in Stomio. It is the location of the ancient city and was known as Eurymenae (Eurymenes). The true population in 2001 was 2428, in 1991 it was 2522. Geography Its geography is the treacherous mountains that are forested and grassy to the southwest that no road passes except for the superhighway, farmlands of the Tempe or Tembi Valley is to the north in where the Pineios River flows and it is its principal river. More mountains lies to the northwest and the Aegean Sea is directly to the east. The GR-1 and the E75 (Athens - Larissa - Thessaloniki is currnetly under construction and will contain four additional lanes totaling six and tunnels and will open somewhere around 2011. Kokkino Nero Kokkino Nero (gr. Red Water) is a settlement of the district of Melivoia and Karitsa of Evrymenes. It is named after a spring of water with a large concentration of iron responsible for the red color. A Byzantinian bridge is near the water spring.
