Morychus, a tragic poet, a contemporary of Aristophanes, noted especially for his gluttony and effeminacy, (Aristoph. Acharn. 887, Vesp. 504, 1137, Pax, 1008, with the note of the scholiast.) There was a proverb: Morycho evithesteros, "More foolish than Morychus"; but whether it had reference to the tragic poet of that name, or not, we do not know. (Fabric. Bibl. Graec. vol. ii. p. 311 ; Bode, Gesch. der Hellen. Dichtkunst, vol. iii. part i. p. 548.)
