Paparis or Papari (Greek: Πάπαρης), also with a and an e accented. is a Greek village in the westcentral part of the Arcadia prefecture. Paparis is in the municipal district of Asea and the municipality of Valtetsi. Kato Asea had a 2001 population of 192 for the village. Paparis is also connected with the road linking the GR-7/E65 (Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata) 6 km north along with the superhighway and Skortsinos. It also has a road to Megalopoli's second transmission tower. Distances Paparis is located about 21 km west of Tripoli, about 21 km east of Megalopoli and about 9 km south-southwest of Asea]]. The mountains dominate the north and the southwest it contains plenty of valleys and streams and grasslands along with barren lands to the north and less to the southwest, the mountain named Tsiberou is to the southwest, the forests dominate the western and the central portions. History The village was first known as Paparos (Πάπαρος). The ancient name was Orestasio. During the Greek War of Independence against the Turks, it was famous and featured a weapon leader with Theodoros Kolokotronis for his plan and the route through the spring of the town. It has a festival that is celebrated annually. The village used to have a large population before the beginning of the 20th century. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the population began to decline as residents moved to larger towns and cities and outside of Greece. The population lost since that time, the population lost by half between 1981 and 2001. The Alfeios is 3 km to the south. Information Its main industry are agriculture. Its main production are olives, citrus, fruits, vegetables and other crops, several common crops are rarely common. Paparis thas several rural roads and approximately 6 to 9 km of hydro lines and roads, it also has approximately 8 to 10 km of rural roads. Its residential houses and buildings are within the main road and it is about 200 to 300 m long wide at the centre. Much of the houses were stone built until the 1970s. Electricity arrived in the same year. Vehicles arrived in the 1970s, the pavement of the main road and television arrived in the 1980s and computer and internet are rarely known in the beginning of the 21st century and up to date technology are not seen.
