Asea is the seat of the municipality with a population 223 divided in Asea and Kato Asea the birthplace of the Greek poet Nikos Gatsos. Asea is called after the ancient place Asea named after the son of Lycaon. Asea was part of the Achaean confederation, participated in the battle of Plataea against the Persians and the battel of Mantineia. Asea is mentioned by Pausanias.

Valtetsi with a population 170 is a historical important place. It is known from the battles of Valtetsi, 24 April and 12 Mai 1821, shortly after the start of the war for independence. It was the place where Kolokotronis, Plapoutas, Nikitaras and others prepared the Siege of Tripolis. The Greeks were attacked two times by the Ottoman military forces but without success.
