Municipality Tragilos (*)

Tragilos (Greek: ) is village (population 575) part of the synonymous municipality of the Serres Prefecture, Greece, population 4773 (2001). The seat of the municipality is in Mavrothalassa. The municipality is in the South of the Prefecture of Serres


Tragilos was named after the ancient city Tragilus founded together with Cerdylium in the 6th century BC by the colony of Argilus. Tragilus was destroyed in the 3rd century AD.

Ivira

Ivira is a village founded after the Minor Asia catastrophe in 1922. It is named after the Monastery of Iviron in Athos which was the owner of the region ("Metochi"). Ivira is c. 40 km from Serres.
