Sostratus of Cnidus

Sostratus, the son of Dexiphanes, the Cnidian, dedicated this to the Saviour Gods, on behalf of those who sail the seas. Dedicatory inscription of the Lighthouse, completed around 280-279 BC.

Sostratus of Cnidus (born 3rd century BC), was a Greek architect. He designed the lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, ca. 280 BC on the island of Pharos off Alexandria.
