In Greek mythology Polyxo (Πολυξώ) was The nurse of queen Hypsipyle in Lemnos, and celebrated as a prophetess. ------ An Argive woman, married to Tlepolemus, son of Heracles, followed her husband to Rhodes, where, according to some traditions, she is said to have put to death the celebrated Helen. a naiad of the river Nile, presumably one of the daughters of the river-god Nilus. She was one of the wives of Danaus and bore him twelve daughters: Autonoe, Theano, Electra, Cleopatra, Glaucippe, Anthelea, Cleodora, Euippe, Erato, Stygne, and Bryce. They married twelve sons of Aegyptus and Caliadne, Polyxo's sister, and murdered them on their wedding nights.
