The ancient city of Aenea (gr. Ainia) is NW of Nea Michaniona. Wall paintings of tombs which were found in the region are now in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. Aggelochori or Angelochori (Αγγελοχωρι) (older form Agelochorion) is a village (district) of Michaniona. Its economy is mostly based on agriculture.
