The municipality of Thestieis was formed according to the law 2539/97. With the law 1416/86 allready in 1994 Kainourgio and Prosilia formed a municipality, which now are municipal departments together with Nea Avorani and Panaitolion of Thestieis. Seat of the municipality is Kainourgio.

Panaitolio

Panaitolio or Panaitolion is a small city c. 5 km from Agrinio.
