Kryoneri (Greek, Modern: Κρυονέρι, Ancient/Katharevousa -on, meaning "cold water" in Modern Greek) is a community of the Greek prefecture of Attica., it is also a suburb of Athens. Malakasa is linked with a road linking Agios Stefanos and Varybombi and has an interchange with GR-1/E75 to the east. Malakasa is also linked with GR-79 (Malakasa - Nea Palatia) and roads to Agios Merkourios and Markopoulo Oropou. The area around Kryoneri has farmlands the central and the southern parts and mountains further north. Housing developments of Athens did not affect this municipality a lot but industrial buildings lies further east. Kryoneri is located north of Athens, southeast of Thiva and northwest of Agios Stefanos. Businesses are the most popular industry in Kryoneri, agriculture dominates the farmlands.
