Skala Oropou (Greek: Σκάλα Ορωπού) is a community of Attica in Greece, it is also a suburb of Athens. Markopoulo Oropou is linked with the road linking GR-1/E75 and Oropos and its beach fnas well as the roads to Kalamos and Malakasa. The area around Markopoulo are surrounded by olive trees, pasture farmlands, grasslands and are hilly, pine trees and mountains dominates southward, farmlands are in valley areas as well as to the northwen part. The South Euboic Gulf covers the north which offers a panoramic view of the island of Euboea as well as Eretria. Markopoulo Oropou is located about ENE of Athens, E of GR-1/E75 (Athens - Lamia - Thessaloniki) and north of Rafina. The Asopus River flows to its west and is through Chalkoutsi. Beaches along with hotels, taverns and restaurants are along within the coastline and is Skala Oropou's fame. The population between 1981 and 1991 was the community that saw huge population loss. All boundaries are communal. Businesses are the most popular industry in Skala Oropou, agriculture dominates the central part and away from its beaches.
