Cholargos or Holargos (Greek: Χολαργός) Latin/Older form: Cholargus is a suburb of Athens, Greece, located northeast of the city center and about 6 kilometers away from Syntagma square. It is accessed by Messogion Avenue in the west and is now accessed to Attiki Odos at number 6 north of the town hall.
The name of the suburb dates back to the ancient Athens, but the deme of Cholargos, which belonged to the tribe of Acamantis (Greek: Ακαμαντίδα φυλή) was near modern Kamatero (or Peristeri or Sepolia according to other researchers). The most prominent "Χολαργεύς" (citizen of Cholargos) was Pericles.
The suburb took its name from the disease that eventually caused Pericles' death - Cholera.
